Unit 2:P7

Tests: Software applications open and work as intended. Default folder settings are correct. Desktop shortcuts go to the right place. The correct device drivers are installed. The correct paper sizes are set for printing. Menu options work as intended. The correct date and time are set.
Method: Click on icon to open the applications. Check the settings and also check the areas of which they should be in. Click on the shortcut and check that it proceeds to the right page. Check they are installed by clicking on the control panel. In a document, Click on file and then print preview to ensure the page size is correct. Click open a document and check that there are the correct options available Right click on the date and time and can be adjusted if needed.
Expected outcome: The applications should be able to easily be opened and for them to work efficiently. When saving a document, folders etc. should be present in the appropriate areas. The shortcuts should link to the correct programme. The device drivers should be set up for the devices e.g. printers. The paper size should be set up at A4 for printing. Menu option should be visible when a document is opened. The date and time should be set correctly.
Actual outcome: They opened as they should and run smoothly without any malfunctions e.g. freezing. Saving the document in the appropriate place was easily done, as the default folder settings were correct. When I carried out this test, the shortcuts linked me to the appropriate site or document etc. The necessary devices drivers were all set up and allowed easy access to the management of the devices. There was no need for any changes as the paper sizes were already set up at A4. The options were displayed once a document is open, allowing options to select programmes etc. The date and time were set correctly already without having to alter this.
